Frequently Asked Questions

How Does the Program Work?

Players will enjoy a five/six week program; two sessions per week; one training session and one developmental game session. At each training session, players can expect a typical practice with the addition of being divided into smaller breakout groups. Breakout groups are meant to work on meeting the individuals needs of each player in terms of skill improvement. Each weekly session focuses on one key skill such as: dribbling, ball control, passing, and shooting. During our game sessions, the group will be divided into two teams to play against one another. Unlike a traditional game, our games will include in-game coaching. This may include stopping game play to help coach players through specific scenarios. At this age, we strive to empower our youth to create relationships and meet new friends, while learning and developing proper soccer techniques and game play.

What is Unique About Our Program?

The New Albany FC Juniors Program is unique in that it uses the concept of "player pools" instead of the old and antiquated team system. A "player pool" refers to the method where players train together as a larger whole, and are then divided amongst themselves to develop teams for game play. In comparison, the traditional team system assigns players to a team that trains together and then plays against other teams that are associated with the league. The "player pool" method has been incredibly successful with many of the top clubs across the country and around the world. The "player pool" style will encourage players to be creative when playing, to play without fear of making mistakes, and to express themselves positively on the soccer field. The emphasis on individual development over team development is at the forefront of our goals as a program and is one of many reasons why New Albany FC was created.

How is Our Program Different from Local Recreation Programs?

Players in the New Albany FC Juniors Program are trained and coached by licensed, professional coaches with many years (10+ years) of coaching experience. The New Albany FC Juniors Program is tailored to any player and family that seeks a more structured, competitive, skill-based program centered around individual development, all while having FUN. Our Juniors Program is the building block to our Boys' and Girls' FC Clubs, which ultimately support our area high schools.
